Elections of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region-2022

The party “New People” in the election of the governor of the Sverdlovsk region will be represented by State Duma deputy, secretary of the central council of the party Alexander Demin. His nomination was unanimously supported by the party members at the general meeting of the regional branch, the correspondent of URA.RU reports. For the New People, this is the first experience of a gubernatorial campaign.

“According to the results of the secret ballot, Demin Alexander Vyacheslavovich scored nine votes “for”, zero votes “against”. To consider Demin Alexander Vyacheslavovich nominated for the post of Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region,” announced the chairman of the counting commission of the meeting, Irina Vinogradova.

In his first candidate speech, Demin emphasized the special role of Yekaterinburg. “The capital of the Urals is rightfully considered to be the capital of democracy and freedom. In my opinion, here is the largest number of our supporters who are ready to support us. Therefore, we are going to the gubernatorial elections with such confidence,” the candidate announced.

33-year-old Demin is a mysterious figure for the regional political party. His career was not previously associated with the Sverdlovsk region: he was born in Rostov-on-Don, studied at the Southern Federal University, then at the Moscow REU. In the State Duma campaign-2021, Demin participated in the joint group of the Sverdlovsk and Kurgan regions. Demin himself explains that he has a historical connection with the Urals – his grandmother and mother were born in Sukhoi Log.

Candidates from four more parties announced their participation in the elections earlier. In addition to Demin, the current governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev (United Russia), Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Ivachev (KPRF), State Duma deputy Andrei Kuznetsov (Fair Russia) and Deputy of the Legislative Assembly Alexander Kaptyug (LDPR) joined the campaign.
