Kurgan doctors of the Ilizarov center saved a pregnant woman from Chechnya

Specialists from the Ilizarov Center in Kurgan helped a 23-year-old patient from Chechnya who had been in an accident to keep her pregnancy alive and successfully performed spinal surgery. This was reported in the group of the Ministry of Health of Russia in the social network VKontakte.

Doctors of the Clinic of Pathology of the Spine and Rare Diseases at the Academician G.A. Ilizarov of the Russian Ministry of Health rescued a 23-year-old resident of Chechnya. During pregnancy, she got into an accident, received a fracture of the lumbar spine, ”the message says.

The young girl managed to save the pregnancy due to the fact that she had spinal cord injuries. In addition, during an on-site consultation in Chechnya, the Kurgan neurosurgeon Maxim Khomchenkov decided to operate on the pregnant woman after the birth of the child. “The girl wore a corset, limited physical activity. A month after the birth of the baby, the girl underwent an operation, ”said Oksana Prudnikova, head of the traumatology and orthopedic department No. 10.

The patient had bone fragments removed from the spinal canal and a structure was placed to fix the spine. In addition, instead of a damaged disc, an implant was installed, which allows faster fusion of the fracture. Neurosurgeons of the Center Ilizarov will continue to monitor the condition and recovery of the young mother. Doctors will have visiting appointments in Chechnya. If necessary, they are also ready to use telemedicine technologies.

Sergey Burnashov, head of the purulent traumatology and orthopedic department No. 2 of the Clinic for Osteoarticular Infection, performed many hours of surgery. Prior to this, it was reported that the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic and the Ilizarov Kurgan Center signed a cooperation agreement.
