Kremlin: attempts to isolate Russia have no prospects

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov reacted negatively to calls to stop issuing visas to Russian tourists to Europe. This proposal was made, in particular, by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas. Mr. Peskov believes that such ideas have no prospects.

Commenting on these proposals during a press call, a Kremlin spokesman said that “the irrationality of thinking in this case is over the top.” According to him, “the smell of such initiatives is also not very good, to say the least.” “This can only be viewed extremely negatively. Any attempt to isolate Russians or isolate Russia is a process that has no prospects,” the spokesman said.

According to Dmitry Peskov, European countries that are “trying to punish Russia” are already “actively paying the bills for this.” “And sooner or later, these countries will also begin to wonder if Zelensky is doing everything right, that our citizens should pay for his whims,” the Kremlin spokesman is convinced.

Volodymyr Zelensky called on the West to ban the entry of Russians and expel those who have already arrived, regardless of their attitude to the military operation in Ukraine. Kaya Kallas said that traveling to Europe is “a privilege, not a human right.”

The issuance of visas to Russians has already been suspended by Latvia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Estonia. Denmark and the Netherlands no longer issue short stay visas. A restriction on the provision of visas to Russians is being discussed in Finland.
