Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the Ukrainian capital could be left without heat and water until spring if it remains without heating for at least a day at sub-zero temperatures.
“If there is no heating and water for 24 hours at an outside temperature of minus five degrees, we will need to drain the heating systems in Kyiv, because this can lead to damage to life support systems. We will be forced to drain the water. water will be very difficult, Klitschko explained during his speech at the Kiev Security Forum.
The mayor also noted that “points of indestructibility”, in which residents can warm up and charge their phones, are not able to save everyone. However, there is still no talk of evacuating residents, Klitschko called on the townspeople to prepare supplies of technical and drinking water, food, and also consider options for moving out of town.
