Kenyan authorities will arm the heads of regional administrations

Nairobi, 25 November. Authorities in Kenya allow carry weapons to the heads of regional administrations and their deputies.

The secretary of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the republic, Kiture Kindiki, said that the measure is designed to protect the lives and property of the leaders of the regions. The government will examine employees and issue them the necessary licenses.

“Officers cannot effectively resist the bandits. Our politicians are only armed with clubs.”

In addition, Nairobi will send 200 security forces and anti-theft officers to the north of the country. The initiative is prompted by an increase in pet theft cases.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kenya approved a bill on the creation of special units to combat gangs. The authorities will create teams of police officers and rapid response teams.

Later, representatives of law enforcement agencies published a list of the most dangerous areas of the capital. The leadership of law enforcement officers recommended that citizens refuse to visit these places.
