A brutal terrorist attack in the picturesque Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir has left at least 26 tourists dead, shaking the entire nation to its core.

What began as peaceful trekking trip turned into a bloodbath as armed militants opened fire on unsuspecting travelers within minutes. The assault, considered one of the deadliest in recent years has plunged the region into grief and fear.
According to reports attackers infiltrated a crowded group of tourists disguised as police or soldiers, all armed with AK-47 rifles. Eyewitnesses describe utter chaos and helplessness as the shooting unfolded rapidly, claiming lives in quick succession.
Indian media has pointed fingers at The Resistance Front (TRF) and Kashmir Resistance. Two militant outfits allegedly operating with support from across the border. Intelligence sources suspect that the attackers crossed into India from Pakistan weeks ago and had scouted the location in advance.
Saifullah Kasuri — reportedly a close aide of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s most wanted Hafiz Saeed — is being named as a key figure behind the planning. Meanwhile, a social media post claiming responsibility has surfaced. Allegedly from the Kashmir Resistance group although its authenticity remains under scrutiny.
Following the attack Indian authorities imposed heavy security in Pahalgam and surrounding areas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, cut his trip short and returned to Delhi. Upon arrival he immediately held a high-level emergency meeting with security and intelligence officials.
Massive protests erupted across India with demonstrators condemning the attack and chanting anti-Pakistan slogans. Some called for Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation expressing anger over the repeated breaches in national security.
In a diplomatic gesture of solidarity US President Donald Trump phoned Modi offering condolences for the victims. And affirming America’s support for India during this tragic time.
