Situations with mobilized who are short of equipment and weapons must be resolved on a case-by-case basis. Andrey Kartapolov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, expressed this opinion in an interview with Parliamentary Newspaper.

“It is necessary to expand opportunities and ways for the mobilized to receive assistance. As recently as today, for example, we opened a public reception room of our defense committee in St. Petersburg,” the parliamentarian explained. – We will work, we will try to solve each problem – not only those related to supply problems – on an individual basis. The only thing is to do it as soon as possible. It is very important for us that our army, our guys are provided with everything necessary. This is the most important condition for the successful fulfillment of the tasks assigned to them.”

Recall that stories about mobilized people who have to buy equipment at their own expense pop up in the media space regularly. Against the backdrop of rush demand, shops selling uniforms, footwear and personal protective equipment even raised prices – the margin on some items, such as bulletproof vests of the fifth protection class and above, was up to a thousand percent. And the relatives of the mobilized complained on social networks that they had to buy almost everything at their own expense – from sleeping bags and tourist rugs to gloves and backpacks.

The official position of the authorities on this matter is unequivocal: the Ministry of Defense provides the mobilized with everything necessary. Overspending and additional purchases are a personal matter for everyone.
