According to Canadian parliamentary tradition departing Members of Parliament allowed to take their seats with them. Toronto Sun political columnist Ryan Lilley remarked on X that while this tradition is cherished Trudeau’s playful pose appeared somewhat odd. Some speculate the gesture could hint at the upcoming election.
During his resignation speech at the Liberal leadership convention Trudeau reflected on his party’s achievements over the past decade, expressing pride in efforts to support middle-class and hardworking Canadians. He urged Liberal supporters to continue striving for Canada’s progress.
