Damage to Nord Stream

US intelligence officers involved in the Nord Stream pipeline blasts did not have enough information about the facility. In addition, they were not aware that the pipelines contained Russian gas. This was stated by American journalist, Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh.

“American intelligence officials <…> did not know that the gas pipelines for 767 miles (about 1.2 thousand kilometers – approx. URA.RU), which they were instructed to undermine, contained Russian natural gas. Perhaps the secret American mission had bad intelligence,” wrote Seymour Hersh on the platform substack.

The sabotage at Nord Stream took place in September 2022. The West hastened to blame Russia for what happened. However, Hersh later published an investigation stating that the explosion was carried out by American divers on the orders of US President Joe Biden personally. He also said that the American side staged this sabotage so that the countries of Europe would not withdraw from the Ukrainian conflict against the backdrop of the then approaching winter. Later, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow recognizes the objectivity of the American journalist’s investigation.
