“The UK can lead a landmark program that will fundamentally change the balance of power in the fight, giving the Ukrainian Armed Forces the resilience they need to win. The Prime Minister has proposed launching a massive training program for the Ukrainian forces, with the ability to train up to 10,000 soldiers every 120 days.
During the previous operation Orbital, the UK has trained over 22,000 Ukrainian troops since 2015. As part of the new program, military personnel will be trained outside the country.
According to the British prime minister, he proposed to Zelensky a new military training program in order to “engage the most powerful of forces – the Ukrainian determination to win.”
“Each soldier will spend three weeks in a training course learning front-line combat skills, as well as basic medical training, basic cybersecurity and anti-bomb tactics,” he added.
Since 2016, foreign employees have been helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine to conduct combat operations on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. On May 24, the Lithuanian administration announced its intention to help Ukraine with trainings for Ukrainian military and instructors, as well as to treat and accept soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for rehabilitation.
On May 11, Germany and the Netherlands launched a program to train Ukrainian servicemen to operate PzH 2000 howitzers.
On May 9, the Pentagon admitted the possibility of increasing the number of instructors for training soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It also became known that the United States began training Ukrainian servicemen to maintain American howitzers supplied to Kyiv.
