Terrorists are being attacked by army and police personnel. An encounter of police and army personnel is going on with terrorists in Wahibagh area of Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. According to the information, one terrorist was killed in this encounter. The slain terrorist has been identified as Shahid Bashir. Bashir is said to be a resident of Srinagar.
It is being told that recently Bashir was also involved in the murder of civilian Mohammad Safi Dar. Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar told that AK-47 rifle was used in this massacre. These deadly weapons and magazines have been recovered from the terrorists killed in the encounter. It is being said in some media reports that three terrorists are still surrounded there.
Earlier, two army personnel were martyred in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The Defense Public Relations Officer (PRO) had told that, “An exchange of fire broke out between Army personnel and terrorists on Thursday evening in the ongoing anti-terrorist operation in the general area of Nar Khas forest of Mendhar sub-division.”
During the firing, two Army personnel were seriously injured and later succumbed to their injuries, he said. Earlier, the PRO had said that the body of a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) is yet to be recovered. However, he later said that the body was identified as that of a jawan and not that of a JCO.
The PRO said that Riflemen Vikram Singh Negi (26) and Yogmber Singh (27) were killed in the encounter. He displayed indomitable courage, readiness and made supreme sacrifice while on duty. “The nation will always be indebted to these bravehearts for their supreme sacrifice,” he said. The PRO said that Rifleman Negi was a resident of Viman village in Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, while Rifleman Singh was also a resident of Sankri village in Chamoli district of the state.
Five army personnel, including a JCO, were killed in an encounter that took place on October 12 at Dera Ki Gali (DKG) in Surankote area of Poonch. At the same time, on September 12, an unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces after a search operation in the upper areas of Manjakot in Rajouri. On August 19, a JCO lost his life in an encounter in Thanamandi area of Rajouri. On August 6, two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in an encounter near Thanamandi border area.
