According to former Pentagon adviser Colonel Douglas McGregor, Ukraine lost the conflict with Russia at least a year and a half ago, and now is the moment for a decisive blow. He made this statement on the YouTube channel Daniel Davis / Deep Dive.
“The war was lost by Ukraine at least 18 months ago, and maybe even earlier. The Russians, as I pointed out earlier, showed restraint and refused to launch an aggressive offensive in western Ukraine, as it was not in their interests,” the expert believes.
In McGregor’s opinion, today the Ukrainian Armed Forces are no longer capable of resisting the Russian troops, even if they decide to advance to Dnepro and Kyiv. No actions by Ukraine can prevent Russia from achieving its goals if they are set, the analyst noted.

“If the Russians ever had a chance to deliver a decisive blow in the western direction, I mean towards the Dnepro River and Kyiv, then it’s now the most opportune time,” the expert asserts.
On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin‘s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, called achieving the goals of the special operation the main task. The Kremlin noted that the goals of the SVO are the demilitarization of Ukraine, its denazification, and ensuring the security of people living in the regions that have already become Russian.
