It will become more difficult for Russian tourists to visit the pyramids in Giza due to the transition to a cashless payment system

Russian tourists may have difficulty visiting the Giza pyramids and a number of museums on their own due to the fact that tickets to them will no longer be sold for cash. At the same time, nothing will change for organized tourists. This is stated in the message of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia.

The Egyptian authorities said that there are several ways to get to these places.

Travel companies can buy a subscription for group visits at the Ticket Center under the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt.

You can also pay for visiting museums with an Egyptian bank card. This can be done by a guide or a representative of the travel company on the spot.

The third way – those who wish can purchase group tickets online on the website of the Ministry of Tourism. Also, foreign tourists will be able to pay for visiting the pyramids and other attractions using their bank cards – in ticket machines or at museum ticket offices.

“However, this option will not always be available for Russians: Mir, Visa and Mastercard bank cards issued by Russian banks are not accepted in Egypt. There is hope that the cards of the UnionPay payment system will work,” the association said.

Former head of ETA Amr El Kadi said that Egypt is interested in increasing the flow of tourists from Russia.
