LDPR has developed a draft on criminal liability for desecration of the Russian passport
In Russia, they may introduce criminal liability for desecration of the passport of the Russian Federation. The violator for such actions will face up to one year in prison, wrote RIA News”.
The bill was developed by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR). Changes are planned to be made to Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the document, a citizen will be threatened with restriction of liberty for up to one year, or forced labor for the same period, or arrest from three to six months, or imprisonment for up to one year.
The explanatory note states that since the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, publications began to appear in the media about Russians who burn their passports on camera. At the moment, such an act is punishable by a fine of 100 to 300 rubles.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs intends to check the Russians who have renounced the citizenship of Ukraine, but still enjoy the rights of a citizen of this state. The review will last three months. If the fact is confirmed, a reasoned opinion will be issued. He will be sent to the citizen himself and to the FSB.
