Cards of Russian banks began to be of less interest to scammers. Sergey Golovanov, chief expert of Kaspersky Lab, told about this in an interview with RIA News.

At the moment, bank cards issued in Russia are of no value abroad. Hackers won’t be able to buy anything, so they’re left with opportunities to scam domestically.

“Since April 2022, apparently, hackers do not need Russian cards – they cannot buy anything on them abroad. It turns out that there are only opportunities for card fraud in Russia,” the expert added.

Now it is enough for fraudsters to have a card number and a cvv code in order to empty a bank client’s account. Using this data, attackers can make purchases in online stores where confirmation via mobile phone is not required.
