After Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20, he signed an executive order renaming the U.S. Digital Service to the Department of Government Efficiency (DoGE) and appointed Musk as its head. Within a month four lawsuits have already been filed against this department, accusing Musk of making decisions that could impact millions.

Musk alleged to have access to highly sensitive databases. His employees have reportedly clashed with officials over access to classified documents from key departments like the Treasury. Replacement of the fired executives has raised further concerns among Musk’s associates.

There are also claims that Musk is using his administrative power to shut down USAID largest humanitarian aid agency in the world, along with other humanitarian projects. Critics argue that these drastic moves are happening without transparency, forcing several organizations to halt operations and lay off employees.

Despite lacking formal government authority, Musk is running DoGE as an unofficial federal department without congressional approval. His special government employee status under the Trump administration allows him to bypass accountability.

Musk’s growing influence has sparked widespread debate. Some describe it as an unelected “shadow government” affecting federal operations. Legally, DoGE lacks any jurisdiction to override federal law or shut down programs.
