Inflation in Germany in May, according to the final estimate, accelerated to 7.9% in annual terms from 7.4% a month earlier. These are the data of the Federal Bureau of Statistics of the country (Destatis).

According to the department, inflation has become a record for the entire history of Destatis observations. Recall that in May, consumer prices in Germany rose by 0.9%. In April, the growth was 0.8%.

At the same time, consumer prices in the country according to EU standards (harmonized consumer price index), according to the final assessment, in May accelerated growth to 8.7% in annual terms from 7.8% a month earlier. In May, prices rose by 1.1% after 0.7% a month earlier.
