Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping plan to attend the Group of Twenty (G20) summit, which will be held in Bali, in person. This was announced by the leader of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, reports TASS with reference to Bloomberg.

Widodo stressed that Chinese President Xi Jinping would be coming, and Russian leader Vladimir Putin also told him about plans to come to the summit. The Indonesian President also said that there should be enough space for dialogue between the leaders of major states.

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC declined to comment on the travel plans of the head of state. Xi Jinping has not left the country once since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Vladimir Putin’s intention to attend the summit was announced in person in July. At the same time, it was clarified that the format of participation is subject to clarification depending on the development of the situation in the world and taking into account the sanitary and epidemiological situation in Southeast Asia.

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo the problems of global food security and congratulated the leader of the republic on the national holiday – Independence Day, which was celebrated on August 17.
