To launch direct flights with Russia, Indonesia is working on guarantees for Russian airlines that there is no risk of aircraft arrest. This was announced by the Indonesian Ambassador to Moscow Jose Antonio Morato Tavares.

“Companies need a guarantee that when the plane arrives in Indonesia, it will not be confiscated. Now the authorities are deciding whether they have the opportunity to provide such a guarantee,” Morato Tavares said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

He clarified that the Indonesian authorities are in contact with the Russian companies Aeroflot and Nordwind, which have expressed a desire to fly to this country, mainly to Bali. By information representative offices of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia in Russia, over 52,000 Russian tourists visited Indonesia in the first 11 months of 2022.

On March 13, Bali Governor Wayan Koster proposed to stop issuing single-entry tourist visas on arrival to tourists from Russia and Ukraine due to visa violations. He also stated “a huge number of complaints about bad behavior and possible criminal acts” allegedly committed by Russians and Ukrainians.
