India vs South Africa 3rd T20I: India on Tuesday met Dr. Y.S. of Visakhapatnam. Rajasekhara Reddy defeated South Africa by 48 runs in the third match of the five-match T20I series played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium. This is India’s first win against South Africa in any format this year. After the win, India have kept their hopes of winning the series alive. However, despite the defeat, South Africa are still 2-1 ahead in the series. Batting first, losing the toss, the Indian team scored 179 runs for 5 wickets. Rituraj Gaikwad scored 57 and Ishan Kishan 54 for the hosts, while Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 31. In reply, South Africa were bundled out for 131 runs in 19.1 overs. The fourth match between the two teams will be played on June 17 in Rajkot.

Chasing the target of 180 runs, South Africa kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Rishabh Pant handed the ball early to the spinners and Axar Patel gave India success in the fourth over with Temba Bavuma (eight) being caught by Avesh Khan. Taking advantage of the extra bounce he was getting from the wicket, Chahal dismissed Rassie van der Dussen (1), Dwayne Pretorius (20) and Heinrich Klaasen (29). Harshal sent Kagiso Rabada (nine) and Tabariz Shamsi (0) to the pavilion after Reeza Hendricks (23) and David Miller (3). For India, Harshal Patel took four wickets for 25 runs while Yuzvendra Chahal took three for 20 runs. Apart from them, Akshar Patel and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got one success each.

Earlier, Gaikwad, who had been in poor form for some time, scored 57 runs in 35 balls while Kishan scored 54 runs in 35 balls. This is his second fifty in the five-match series. South Africa, however, did not allow India to reach 200 runs while bowling brilliantly in the second half. The Indian team lost two wickets in the 13th to the 17th over and only 20 runs could be scored. Hardik Pandya scored 31 runs in 21 balls in the last over to take the team close to 180.

Gaikwad started the attack with five consecutive fours off Anrich Norkea in the fifth over. He hits Dwayne Pretorius for a six in deep backward square leg. India scored 57 runs for no loss in six overs of the powerplay. Kishan scored 13 runs in the ninth over by hitting six and four off Tabrez Shamsi. Gaikwad completed his fifty in 30 balls and welcomed Keshav Maharaj with a four. Maharaj ended his innings by taking his catch on his own ball.

Kishan completed his fifty in 31 balls with two fours and a six off Maharaj Shreyas Iyer started well and hit sixes to Shamsi and Norkea but Shamsi did not allow him to play a big innings by sending him to the pavilion at the hands of Norkea.
