Tensions between India and Pakistan intensified as cross-border firing erupted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir for the eighth consecutive night.

Exchange of gunfire, reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Nowshera, and Akhnoor, followed a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, escalating diplomatic and military friction. No casualties reported in latest skirmishes.

Recent flare-up stems from a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which India attributes to Pakistan-backed groups. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused Pakistan of supporting terrorism, stating, “Pakistan has a long history of aidin training and funding terrorism.” Home Minister Amit Shah vowed to hunt down those involved, warning, “No one linked to the attack will be spared.”
Pakistan’s military chief General Asim Munir, responded with a stern message, promising a robust counter to any Indian military aggression. Islamabad denounced India’s claims with Pakistan’s US envoy, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, accusing New Delhi of deflecting blame for its policy failures in Kashmir. “Pakistan seeks peace, but mistaking this for weakness would be a grave error,” Sheikh said in a US television interview.
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) believes four terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack remain at large, hiding in South Kashmir’s forests.

Security forces claim the militants have stockpiled food and equipment, using communication devices without SIM cards to evade tracking. This has complicated efforts to locate them according to a report by Anandabazar Patrika.

Conflict has drawn international attention. US Defence Secretary Pete Hecksth endorsed India’s right to self-defense, affirming Washington’s support for New Delhi. However, Pakistan maintains that India has provided no evidence linking it to Pahalgam attack, further straining bilateral ties.
As both nations trade accusations, LoC remains a flashpoint. With no immediate resolution in sight the situation underscores the fragile peace in the region, raising concerns about further escalation.
