The total length of the Novokoltsovsky route, which will connect the Yekaterinburg railway station and Koltsovo airport, will be 31 kilometers, of which 7 kilometers are new construction. This was announced by the deputy head of Yekaterinburg Alexei Bubnov.
“It is assumed that the length of the route in the Novokoltsovsky project will be 31 km, including 7.4 km of new construction,” TASS quoted the official as saying.
The project of the Novokoltsovsky route in July at the Innoprom exhibition was approved by Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Mayor Alexei Orlov and Head of the Sverdlovsk Railway Ivan Kolesnikov. It is assumed that in the near future more than 30 kilometers of the railway will be built, which will connect 15 stops, including the railway station, Ekaterinburg-Expo and Koltsovo Airport. The railway route may appear by 2025.
The route will be part of the surface metro of Yekaterinburg, which, according to the plans of the authorities, will connect the capital of the Urals with satellite cities. The electric train is considered as the most likely alternative to the second subway line. Mayor Orlov estimated the cost of construction at 100 billion rubles.
