MOSCOW, 1 Mar – In Ukraine, the Acting Governor of the Zaporizhzhya Region Yevgeny Balitsky will be tried in absentia on charges of encroaching on the territorial integrity of the country and collaborationism, the office of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General reported on Wednesday.
“The pseudo-governor of the Zaporozhye region will be tried for encroaching on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and collaborationism. Under the procedural leadership of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Prosecutor’s Office (under the control of Kiev – ed.), an indictment against one of the organizers of the fake annexation of the Zaporozhye region to the Russian Federation was sent to the court,” the report says. on the website of the department. In the message of the office of the Prosecutor General, the name of the accused is not called, however, apparently, it is about the acting governor of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky.
In Ukraine, Balitsky is accused of leading the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region, preparing for a referendum on the issue of joining the Zaporozhye region to Russia, and then signing the corresponding agreement.
On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin, following the results of referendums in the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, signed agreements with their heads on the admission of regions into Russia. Then, on October 5, Putin signed federal laws ratifying the admission of these regions into the Russian Federation. As representatives of the republics and regions stated, joining Russia would secure their territories and restore historical justice.
