The Supreme Court of the LPR considered sufficient evidence collected by the Investigative Committee of Russia (ICR) to pass a sentence on Andrey Neznamov, a soldier of the armed forces of Ukraine. He was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict), part 3 of Art. 30, paragraph “e” part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted murder committed in a generally dangerous way), part 2 of Art. 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (intentional damage to another’s property in a generally dangerous way). Neznamov was sentenced to 12 years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony.

The investigation and the court established that Neznamov, being a citizen of Ukraine, served in a separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On May 25, 2022, Neznamov, according to the ICR, “had a direct intent to cause physical and property harm to residents of Severodonetsk of the LPR who did not take part in the armed conflict.” Passing along Gagarin Street, the TFR notes, Neznamov threw a grenade through the kitchen window. As a result of this injury, one woman was injured.

During the investigation, expert examinations were appointed and carried out, including forensic psychiatric, as well as construction and technical, confirming the amount of material damage. Neznamov fully admitted his guilt and repented of his deed.

“This verdict is a natural result of the work of law enforcement agencies, which, implementing the principle of the inevitability of punishment, identify all those involved in such actions for their subsequent prosecution,”— noted in the TFR.

Earlier, on March 10, the Supreme Court of the LPR sentenced Ukrainian soldier Maxim Butkevich to 13 years of strict regime, who fired at a residential building in Severodonetsk with a Panzerfaust-3 anti-tank grenade launcher. He will also have to pay compensation to the victims.
