In Syria, the Russian military rescued 47 people from the rubble


The Russian military continues to carry out rescue work in Syria after the earthquake; in total, 47 people have been rescued from the rubble since February 6. This was announced at a briefing on Thursday by the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, Major General Oleg Yegorov.

On the morning of February 6, an earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred in Turkey, and in the afternoon a second cataclysm was recorded in the country. In connection with the tragedy, national mourning was declared in the country until February 12 inclusive.

“Russian servicemen continue to take part in the aftermath of the earthquake in the provinces of Latakia, Aleppo and Hama. Since February 6, 2023, 47 people have been rescued from the rubble, medical assistance has been provided to 225 Syrian citizens, distribution of 38.5 tons of humanitarian aid (food kits and essentials) to those in need has been organized, ”RIA Novosti quotes Egorov.

Earlier it became known that in Turkey the number of victims of natural disaster reached 17 thousand. At the same time, the number of victims exceeded 70 thousand citizens.
