In Russia, they thought about reducing the cost of OSAGO

Head of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy Andrey Kutepov invited the government to reduce the cost of OSAGO for Russian cars and increase the repair period for insurance from 30 to 45 days. This is reported by the publication “Kommersant“.

Kutepov believes that insurance should be cheaper for cars with a localization level of at least 600 points. He drew attention to the statistics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to which 1.8 million violations related to the lack of insurance were recorded in 2022. At the same time, there was a significant increase in tariffs. The senator notes that the growth of tariffs has dragged on for a long time, and this makes insurance of domestic cars unprofitable. Kutepov connects his proposal to increase the period of OSAGO repairs with the problems of lack of spare parts and the disruption of supply chains.

Earlier, the media reported that approximately 10% of motorists have an expired OSAGO policy. This is evidenced by the data of the Alfastrakhovanie company.
