Inspection of socially significant objects and buildings is carried out by operational groups of rescuers in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky after an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 in Avachinsky Bay. This was announced on June 18 by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Kamchatka Territory.

According to the Kamchatka Branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, earthquakes were recorded by seismologists on June 18 at 10:22 local time (01:22 Moscow time). The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Avacha Bay, 101 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The earthquake source was located at a depth of 51 km.

In some areas of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, tremors with a magnitude of up to 3.0 were felt.
