In Moscow, called the most rare and unusual names for newborns

The most unusual and rare names for girls in the first quarter of 2023 were Eureka, Dennitsa, Spring. These names were given to one newborn girl. Lucas Ricki, Mario, Modest became rare names among boys, said the head of the Moscow registry office Svetlana Ukhaneva.

“Among the unusual female popular names, one can single out Milan, Kira, Yesenia, Agatha,” informed head of the Moscow registry office for the RIA Novosti agency.

Three owners of rare names – Kapitolina and Stella – were born in Moscow in the first quarter. Two girls were named Glafira. Among the rarest names, along with Eureka, Dennitsa and Spring, were Vesta, Barbara, Svetozara and Matrona. Boys during this period were called such unusual names as Hovhannes, Thomas, Julian and Theo.

Earlier, Ukhaneva said that for the first time in many years, Mikhail became a popular name for newborn boys in Moscow.
