In Moscow, a heart operation was performed on a newborn baby weighing 760 grams

Moscow doctors performed a successful operation on the heart of a newborn baby who was born prematurely with a body weight of 760 grams. About it reported press service of the Metropolitan Department of Health.

The baby was born at the 24th week of pregnancy at the end of December 2022 at the Perinatal Center of the City Clinical Hospital No. 67 named after L.A. Vorokhobov. He was diagnosed with a pathology of the cardiovascular system: a large open ductus arteriosus. As explained in the Depzdrav, this led to the discharge of additional volumes of blood from the aorta into the pulmonary artery and the inability to disconnect from artificial lung ventilation. Doctors tried to close the duct with medication, but this did not help, so it was decided to perform an operation.

“The operation was performed by a cardiosurgical team of doctors from the Morozov City Children’s Clinical Hospital, headed by the chief pediatric cardiac surgeon of Moscow, Mikhail Abrahamyan. The operation to close the arterial duct was successful,” the message says.

The Department of Health noted that at present the child has already been discharged for outpatient monitoring. Doctors assess the baby’s condition as stable.
