The police of the Zaporizhia region prevented a terrorist attack near the power line in Melitopol, but one of the power transmission towers was still blown up, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the Zaporozhye region, said on his Telegram channel.
According to him, the incident took place on August 17. At about 12 noon, the police received a message about an explosion 500 meters from the Yuzhny checkpoint in Melitopol.
On the spot, it turned out that one of the four supports of a high-voltage power line had been blown up, from which it collapsed, but the power supply did not stop.
When examining the territory on one of the three remaining power transmission towers, police dog handlers found another explosive device with a timer for 12:40. It was destroyed.
Most of the Zaporozhye region was taken under the control of Russian troops in early March. At the moment, the region is temporarily controlled by the military-civilian administration. Recently, terrorist attacks have been periodically occurring in the administrative center of the region. So, another terrorist attack occurred on June 12 near the Melitopol building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, two people were injured as a result. On the morning of May 30, a car stuffed with explosives exploded in the center of Melitopol. The explosion injured two volunteers who are distributing humanitarian aid.
