Russian special operation in Ukraine

The military-civil administration of the Kherson region, at the request of citizens, wants to erect a monument to the founder of the city, All-Russian Empress Catherine II. An appeal to Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky was published on the telegram channel of the Kherson authorities.

“The leadership of the Kherson Regional State Administration, supporting the initiative of the inhabitants of Kherson to perpetuate the memory of the founder of the city, Catherine II, is asking for help and support in creating a monument to the great empress in Kherson. It was during the era of her reign that the city was founded and developed rapidly as an economic, cultural and political center of the Northern Black Sea region of the Russian Empire,” the representatives of the administration noted.

Medinsky is asked to support this initiative as part of the city’s anniversary. On June 18, Kherson turns 245 years old.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a forced special operation on the territory of Ukraine in February this year. The main goal of the Russian army is to save the civilians of Donbass from the genocide of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Battalions, as well as the denazification and demilitarization of the territory. In March of this year, the RF Armed Forces liberated large areas of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, and Kherson and most of the Zaporozhye region are under full control. They have already started issuing Russian passports. The authorities of Kherson announced a rush demand for this document. In addition, the region may become part of Russia this year.
