Participants in ‘Moscow format’ meeting on Afghanistan, held on Friday in Russia’s capital, discussed cooperation opportunities with Kabul.
They highlighted potential regional infrastructure projects and investment collaboration, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“The IFC participants showed interest in regional infrastructure projects involving Afghanistan and discussed prospects for economic, trade, and investment partnerships with Kabul,” said a statement on ministry’s website.
During the meeting, participants reaffirmed support for Afghanistan’s development as an independent, united, and peaceful state. They expressed willingness to help Kabul in counter-terrorism efforts and combatting drug issues.
Meeting also emphasized need for international humanitarian aid for Afghanistan, stressing that such aid should remain free from political influence. A joint statement was issued at conclusion of the talks.
