At the meeting of the UN Security Council, held on August 11, they discussed the situation around the nuclear power plant in the Zaporozhye region. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that there is no momentary threat to nuclear safety.
During a special operation to protect the Donbass, Russian military personnel took control of the station in order to prevent the leakage of radioactive materials. After that, the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to regularly fire at a strategically important object.
“According to my assessment, at the moment there is no immediate threat to nuclear safety at the ZNPP,” Grossi said.
At the same time, he added that at any moment the situation could change due to the conduct of hostilities near the nuclear power plant and constant shelling.
