‘I used to study in 7th, I was sexually abused by a female relative’, reveals Piyush Mishra

Fearless, cool and carefree Piyush Mishra has made such a disclosure about his life, knowing that you will also be shocked. In his autobiography ‘Tumhari Aukat Kya Hai Piyush Mishra’, the actor has mentioned such a traumatic experience in his childhood, the pain of which is still somewhere in his mind. Piyush Mishra has revealed that he was sexually assaulted in childhood by a distant female relative. Piyush Mishra was studying in 7th class then. This thing is about 50 years old. Piyush Mishra says that the incident shook him. It was such that for a long time he was afraid of sex.

Piyush Mishra has also spoken to news agency PTI about this incident that happened to him. He says, ‘It is about 50 years old. I used to study in 7th. It was a summer day. I have written only the truth in the book, but have changed the names of the people because I do not want to take revenge on anyone. I was deeply shocked by that incident. I was surprised by whatever happened.

‘After a long time and many partners, the fear is gone’

Piyush Mishra further adds, ‘Sex is such a healthy thing that whenever you encounter it for the first time, it should be good, otherwise it will scar you for life. Haunts you for life. That sexual assault haunted me for life. It took a long time and after many companions, I was able to come out of that fear and complicity.

‘I don’t want to hurt anyone’

Piyush Mishra’s autobiography begins in the narrow streets of Gwalior, where he spent his childhood. Then from his days at Delhi’s cultural hub Mandi House and then his journey to Mumbai, the actor has tried to cover his entire life in the book. He says, ‘I have kept the incidents true in the book, but have changed the names. I wanted to hide the identity of some people. Some of them are women and some are men who have now become big names in the film industry. I didn’t want to take revenge on anyone. Nor wanted to hurt anyone.

Santap Trivedi was made a character instead of himself in the book

Interestingly, in the book Piyush Mishra describes his entire life journey as a character Santap Trivedi or Hamlet. He was known by this name during the days of National School of Drama. Born in a middle class family in Gwalior, Piyush Mishra was interested in singing and music since childhood. He turned to paintings, sculptures, poetry and then theatre. The specialty of all-rounder Piyush Mishra is that he has won the hearts of people in all these genres.

Father wanted Piyush Mishra to become a doctor

Piyush Mishra writes in the book that his father insisted on him pursuing a career in medical science. He wanted his son to become a doctor, but Piyush Mishra dropped out midway and decided to join NSD at the age of 20. It was from here that his journey in the world of theater and acting began. Piyush says that initially he did not want to leave Delhi and come to Mumbai. But while the friends started their careers in Mumbai, they too eventually reached the city of dreams.

Piyush Mishra is happy that he has not been typecast as an actor. He says, ‘I don’t think I’ve been typecast. I have always done different roles, however small in length they may be. I had small roles in ‘Tamasha’, ‘Rockstar’, ‘Maqbool’, ‘Gulal’ and ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, but they were different roles. I have no problem getting the role. I keep rejecting many things. I turn down those roles, in which I feel that I am not able to enjoy.
