Hungary announces ratification of agreement on membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO
Bucharest, 30 November 2022, 15:54 — REGNUM The Hungarian authorities promised in February 2023 to ratify the agreement on the membership of Finland and Sweden in NATO. This was announced on November 30 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland Pekka Haavisto on the sidelines of the Congress of Foreign Ministers of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance in Bucharest.
“Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó has informed me that Hungary will ratify the agreement on the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO in early February without any problems.”Haavisto said.
He added that Budapest had been waiting for this news for about six months. Hungary stressed that they support the joint entry of Finland and Sweden into the military bloc.
It is worth noting that Turkey has not given its consent to these countries being accepted into NATO. The discussion of this issue continues during the congress of the Foreign Ministers of the countries of the Alliance in Bucharest.
