Because of Hersh: AfD and Linke are calling for a committee of inquiry in the Bundestag on the Nord Stream attack

After the publication of Seymour Hersh, unlike all other parties represented in the Bundestag, AfD and Linke are demanding consequences. AfD leader Tino Chrupalla is demanding the “withdrawal of all US troops” from Germany if the investigative journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner is right.

The AfD wants to have the numerous open questions about the explosions on the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea in September 2022 clarified by a committee of inquiry in the Bundestag. That reports the Berlin newspaper on Thursday. AfD faction leader Tino Chrupalla justified his move on Thursday with the research published on Wednesday by Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh.

Chrupalla emphasized that the question at stake was whether “NATO’s leading power had carried out an attack on our country’s vital, critical infrastructure in European waters”. Should this be the case, US troops could no longer remain in Germany: “The consequence would be the withdrawal of all US troops.” The Bundestag therefore has “a right to know what knowledge the federal government has”.

The AfD faction in the Bundestag tweeted on Thursday:

“Is the USA responsible? The suspicions of Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh must be investigated. The Bundestag has a right to know what knowledge the federal government has.”

MEPs from the left-wing faction also want information from the Berlin newspaper ask questions to the government.
