The American journalist noted that the reason for this decision by the US President was that the war in Ukraine was not going very well for the West. The parties were afraid of the approaching winter.

According to him, Nord Stream 2 was suspended by Germany itself, and not by international sanctions. The United States feared that Germany would lift restrictive measures due to the cold winter, Hersh said.
