From June 1, users of Russian online cinemas will no longer be able to access animated films from Studio Ghibli by Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki. The distributor of Ghibli films in Russia did not renew the rights to show, said TASS.

“Yes, the distributor’s rights to Studio Ghibli content are expiring, they have not been able to renew them,” the source said.

On the pages of Studio Ghibli cartoons in the Kinopoisk online cinema, notifications appeared that the pictures can be viewed until May 31.

We are talking about the films “Spirited Away”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, “Princess Mononoke” and others. Now they can be bought at Kinopoisk for 1 ruble.

Disney TV channel announced the termination of broadcasting in Russia from December 2022. This decision was made by the channel’s management against the backdrop of sanctions against Russia. It was also reported that the rights to cartoons and series would be withdrawn. Disney’s place on the air was taken by the new channel “The Sun”.
