US Democratic Party presidential candidate Kamala Harris has stated that the microphones during the upcoming TV debates with her opponent, Republican and former President Donald Trump, must be kept on at all times, allowing for open discussion between the two sides.
“We’re running for the President of the United States. Let’s have an open discussion with our microphones always on,” Harris wrote on her official social media account X.
Without providing evidence, she expressed confidence that Trump‘s own advisors would not allow him to agree to such a condition.

“Donald Trump is beholden to his advisors, who won’t let him have a debate with his microphone always on. If his own team doesn’t trust him, the American people certainly can’t,” Harris believes.
According to the rules of the scheduled September 10 TV debate, ABC plans to alternate muting each speaker’s microphone during their opponent’s turn to speak. Trump’s team insisted on keeping the same rules as his previous debates with Joe Biden, while Harris’s team requested that the microphones remain on.
The US presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 5.
