Harold Stassen is the only presidential candidate who was older than Joe Biden

In the entire history of the United States, the only contender for the presidency Herold Stassen was older incumbent head of state Joe Biden. He participated in the elections in 1992.

The current President of the United States will turn 82 in November 2024. The closest candidate in age was 85 when he ran in the 1992 presidential election.

However, unlike Biden, Stassen failed to become a candidate. His candidacy was eliminated during the pre-election voting.

Stassen ran for president nine times: in 1944, 1948, 1952, 1964, 1968, 1984, 1988, and most recently in 1992. It is worth noting that in 1932 he ran for the post of head of state William Hope Harveywho was 81 years old.

Biden is now the oldest US president to have his name on the ballot. By age, he was ranked second among hundreds of contenders in the previous election.
