Discussions in Qatar have revolved around a potential truce, and White House representatives have stated that a ceasefire might happen before Donald Trump takes office.
Reports suggest Hamas and Israel are nearing a deal on ceasefire and prisoner exchange. President Biden emphasized his administration’s strong push to achieve this noting that a ceasefire could lead to the release of hostages and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinians. Biden also plans to discuss the matter with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi soon.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken shared optimism about the progress stating that the discussions have advanced significantly compared to earlier efforts. In an interview with NBC he confirmed that the US remains hopeful about the ceasefire agreement.
Sources from Netanyahu’s administration reveal that the proposed ceasefire deal may occur in three phases. In the first phase 33 Israeli hostages are expected to be released.
Second phase beginning on the 16th day of the agreement, will focus on releasing all civilians and detained soldiers. Final phase will address plans for establishing a new administration in the blockaded Gaza Strip.
