Guterres called “Ukrainian” electricity Zaporozhye NPP

The Russian military must leave the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, because the electricity generated by the station is necessary for Ukrainians, the UN Secretary General told reporters on August 19 António Guterres.

Being in the port of the city of Odessa (former Ukrainian SSR), the Secretary General of an international organization expressed the opinion that it is necessary to demilitarize the Zaporizhzhya NPP (we recall that after liberation from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is guarded by Russian security forces).

According to him, when the Russian military leaves, the problem “to be resolved”. He called it certain that “Electricity from the Zaporozhye NPP is Ukrainian electricity”.

Guterres said that in winter the inhabitants of Ukraine will not be able to do without the station, and this approach “must be fully respected”. As for the visit of IAEA experts to the plant, the organization itself will decide when it is better to do this.
