A gunman opened fire on a university campus in Michigan. Three people died and five others were critically injured. The alleged perpetrator is said to have shot himself.
An armed man opened fire on Monday evening (local time) on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU) in the US state of Michigan. Three people were killed and five others injured. The alleged perpetrator is said to have died of an “apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound,” according to campus police informed.

The 43-year-old perpetrator was found outside the university campus. He is said to have had no known connection to the university, the motive is still unknown, explained the police on Tuesday night (local time).
On Monday evening, the shooter opened fire in a hall of the university. After the first shots, there was a second attack at another location on campus. Five people were taken to a hospital with injuries, some with life-threatening injuries. Several buildings have been evacuated. “Run, hide, fight,” said the university in an initial warning to students and employees. After a search of more than four hours, police announced that the alleged gunman was found dead off campus.
The police described identified the alleged perpetrator as a “little black man wearing red shoes, a denim jacket and a baseball cap”.
MSU officials said all classes and activities on the university campus would be canceled for 48 hours.
The University of Michigan is attended by more than 50,000 students according to the official website. The campus covers more than 21 square kilometers.
