Ankara, 12 February 2023, 23:37 — REGNUM Georgian Ambassador in Ankara George Janjgava stated that Georgia was one of the first to come to the aid of Turkey, the Anadolu agency reported on February 12.
According to him, as soon as information was received about the earthquake, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili instructed the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Department of Emergency Situations to send a search and rescue group to Turkey.
During the first day after the earthquake, 63 Georgian rescuers arrived in the disaster zone. Then 40 more firefighters joined them.
Currently, 108 people from Georgia are participating in search and rescue operations in Turkey.
Recall that as a result of the earthquake on Turkish territory, almost 30 thousand people died.
