Georgia intends to open a memorial to the soldiers killed in August 2008

Minister of Defense of Georgia Juansher Burchuladze announced that the “Shindisi Heroes Memorial” will be opened this year, the Georgian TV channel “Mitavari Arkhi” reports on August 11.

“We managed to finish the monument in one year. We plan to open this monument in September. We had a different sketch of the monument, but at the request of the families and in agreement with them, we decided to keep the existing sketch and actually finished it. Today we tried our best to impress everyone with the way the monument looks.”– said Burchuladze.

For two years, the government did not complete the construction of the memorial. The monument was supposed to be completed in 2020, although at the moment only a small part of the work has been done.
