Sanctions against Russia in general and the Urals in particular

The G7 countries intend to stop importing Russian coal and oil as part of a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. This is stated in the official statement of the states.

“We will accelerate our efforts to reduce and end dependence on Russian energy supplies and as quickly as possible, building on G7 commitments to phase out or ban imports of Russian coal and oil,” Reuters quoted the document as saying. In addition, the G7 countries plan to impose sanctions against sectors on which Russia “has a special dependence,” the statement said.

The countries of the European Union, the USA, Canada, Japan and a number of other states imposed tough economic sanctions against Russia after the start of a special operation in Ukraine. As Russian President Vladimir Putin stated, sanctions pressure on Russia has been going on since the early 2000s, and its goal is “discrimination against everything connected with Russia.”

In addition, the EU countries are discussing a collective embargo on Russian oil as part of the sixth package of sanctions. Later, the media reported that in the next five years the EU will spend an additional 195 billion euros to completely get rid of energy dependence on Russia.
