MOSCOW, November 29 – Former Senator Rauf Arashukov and his father Raul at a meeting in the Moscow City Court, which began to consider their case on the merits, did not plead guilty to the alleged crimes, said lawyer Vladimir Postaniuk.
“The prosecutor outlined the essence of the charge brought, and we outlined our position. Rauf Arashukov did not admit his guilt, Raul Turbievich said that he did not commit a crime, but did not commit any immoral act at all,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
The consideration of the case will continue on November 30.
The case is being considered with the participation of a jury, whom the court was able to select only on the sixth attempt. There are currently eight primary and 21 reserve jurors on the jury, with several reserve jurors dropping out for good reason.
Earlier, the court divided the criminal case into two: one of them, against the father and son of the Arashukovs, three former law enforcement officers and the director of the Gazprom Mezhregiongaz Stavropol branch, Guzer Khashukaev, will be considered by the Moscow City Court with the participation of a jury, the second, in which there are 14 defendants, is being heard in Preobrazhensky the court of the capital.
Depending on the role and degree of participation, the defendants are charged under Part 3 of Art. 210 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of a criminal community or participation in it), p. “a, f, h” part 2 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder), part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (misappropriation or embezzlement), clause “c” part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (abuse of office), part 4 of Art. 309 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribery or compulsion to testify or evade testimony or to incorrect translation), part 2 of Art. 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (knowingly false denunciation).
The investigation believes that Raul Arashukov, as the head of the criminal community, ordered, and his son Rauf, as a member of an organized criminal group, organized the murders of the deputy chairman of the Adege-Hese youth movement Aslan Zhukov and adviser to the president of the KCR Fral Shebzukhov. They do not admit their guilt. The ex-senator was also charged with two episodes of abuse of power and a false denunciation.
In July, the Basmanny Court of Moscow seized the property of the Arashukovs and related persons in the amount of more than 1.5 billion rubles at the suit of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
