The summer of the current year in the European part of Russia turned out to be the brightest in the history of meteorological observations.
Sunshine for three months amounted to 1012 hours. This was stated by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand.
“This summer was the brightest for the observation period. On average, the sun shone for 11 hours every day. This is a lot,” he stressed at a press conference.
According to the expert, this is due to anticyclones that controlled the weather in Moscow and European Russia. Due to their influence, the downward movement of air became an obstacle to the appearance of clouds.
