Restaurateurs Arkady Novikov and Anton Pinsky have sold the Globus Gourmet chain of premium grocery stores to the Sindika group, owned by Senator Arsen Kanokov. Egor Solomatin, vice-president of Sindika, specified that Messrs. Novikov and Pinsky remained minority shareholders of the retailer.
Forbes citing sources, reports that the deal affected three Moscow grocery stores “Globus Gourmet” (in the shopping center “Vremena Goda”, “Gimeney” and “Premier” in Novaya Riga), as well as one “Globus Gourmet Express” at Sheremetyevo Airport. Information about the transaction was also confirmed by Anton Pinsky, the amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
Mr. Solomatin stressed that Sindika does not plan to rebrand the chain of grocery stores and aims to open new supermarkets in million-plus cities, but “no more than five stores a year.”
Globus Gourmet was founded in 2004 by entrepreneur Lev Khasis together with Arkady Novikov. The gastronomes of the network are positioned as premium, the Globus catalog contains many imported positions and goods exclusive to the Russian market.
