FMGE 2021: Doctors request court to postpone FMG exam

An association of doctors has urged the Delhi High Court to postpone the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening test scheduled for June 18 due to the prevailing COVID situation in the country. The Association of MD Physicians said that only a limited number of cities are being notified as exam centers and a large number of candidates will have to travel without taking a single dose of the COVID vaccine. The members of this organization are also some foreign medical graduates who have completed their primary medical courses in institutions located abroad.

However, counsel for the National Board of Examinations (NBE) and the National Medical Commission (NMC) opposed the petition on the ground that it was only a qualifying examination and if the petitioners did not appear for the examination in June, they could appear for the examination in December also. Huh. He requested that the examination should not be postponed on insistence of some candidates.

After hearing the arguments of both the sides, Justice Amit Bansal asked the counsel to keep some documents ‘on record’ and listed the matter for further hearing on Friday.

Adit S Pujari and Chaitanya Sundriyal are the advocates on behalf of the association in this matter.
